CanopyLAB releases a free virtual mental health course series for youth

By Sophia Botran, eLearning Design Intern

What is mental health? How do I find the right therapist? Can mindfulness help end climate change? How do I fight mental health stigma? How do I take care of my mental wellbeing? These are just a few of the questions we answer in our brand new mental health course series on the free learning platform the LAB!

While we all have mental health, many do not have a clear understanding of what it is or how to take care of it. We understand that it can be tricky to find easy to comprehend information on mental health. We launched an introductory series that gives you the breadth and depth of essential topics dealing with mental health and wellbeing.

In this series, we deep dive into a variety of topics filled with credible and engaging resources, powerful storytelling and exercises for self-reflection. These light-hearted but informative courses are easy for an 11-year-old to understand and engaging enough for a 60-year-old to participate in.

With a diverse selection of resources, videos, and materials, students will dig deeper into mental health facets. Every exercise was designed to support the student in their learning process. In line with the fundamental goal for CanopyLAB to make online learning as interactive as possible, we have exercises ranging from journal prompts, interview questions, analysis, video creation, and group work.

This series is just the beginning, our NGO partnerships continue to grow every week and we are excited to welcome partners like Mental Makeover (USA) and Youth for Mental Health Coalition (Philippines) who will contribute to the list of free courses on the LAB dedicated to mental health. We at CanopyLAB are very excited about this new course series and hope you are too. Now let your mental health journey begin!
